Child Abuse Squad detectives have charged a police officer as a result of an investigation into allegations of child sex offences with the man to front a Mandurah court next week.
It will be alleged the man sent a boy inappropriate images of a sexual nature.
The man is a Sergeant with the WA Police Force and works in the Perth Metropolitan area.
He has been stood down from duty.
The 41-year-old man has been charged with using an electronic communication with intent to expose a person aged under 13 years of age to an indecent matter and encourage a child to do an indecent act.
He will appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court on Friday, October 20.
