Rebels members charged after seizure of drugs, guns and cash

PIC: WA Police

Five people, including senior members of the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang, have been charged after police allegedly seized guns, cash and drugs from homes and a business in Perth.

Detectives raided a home on Malleefowl Way in Alkimos on Thursday arresting two men aged 38 and 29 and a 32-year-old woman.

They then searched properties in Scarborough and Butler which were linked to the men, allegedly seizing 390 grams of meth, two firearms, $3,385 cash and other items of interest.

At the same time, Gang Crime Squad detectives searched homes in Edgewater and Scarborough and a business on Glossop Street in Wangara where they arrested a 44-year-old man and a 39-year-old man.

Police allegedly seized over 160g of cocaine, over 80g of methylamphetamine, over 80g of cannabis, more than $85,000 cash, and other items of
interest.

The five people have been charged with serious drug and other offences and were refused bail.

Detective Inspector Mark Twamley from the Serious and Organised Crime Division said the seizure of the drugs further highlights the role outlaw motorcycle gangs have in the supply and distribution of illicit drugs in Western Australia.

“WA Police Force is committed to disrupting the criminal networks that operate under the guise of motorcycle clubs and we will continue to focus our efforts on those who bring harmful drugs into our community," Mr Twamley said.

“As much as they try to conceal their illegal operations, it is seizures such as this that reinforce the importance of maintaining a strong enforcement approach to outlaw motorcycle gangs and the local, interstate and overseas criminal networks they engage with.

“This operation has seen senior members of the Rebels OMCG arrested and this will have an immediate impact on their ongoing activities.”

Anyone with information regarding the supply or distribution of illicit drugs in Western Australia is urged to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
