The RAC rescue helicopter has landed at an oval in Halls Head following an air and sea search in the Mandurah Estuary.
It is understood a flare sighting was reported to police around 7.35pm on Monday.
Water Police, the rescue helicopter and Mandurah Volunteer Marine Rescue conducted an extensive search soon after in waters around Creery Island off Erskine.
It is believed the rescue chopper landed at Peelwood Reserve in Halls Head around 9pm where it was met by a waiting ambulance.
The circumstances surrounding the search are still unclear.
