The Shire of Murray has revealed the area's most popular dog and cat names ahead of pet registration renewals next month.
'Missy' took out top spot for cat names while 'Bella' was most popular for dogs.
Max, Buddy, Ruby, Molly, Roxy, Bonnie, Charlie, Luna, and Lilly were also among the most common pet names.
There are more than 3000 dogs and 664 cats registered in the Shire of Murray.
Chief Executive Officer Dean Unsworth said pet registration renewals are due by October 31, 2023.
“Keeping your pet’s registration details up-to-date is one key part of being a responsible pet owner. It helps us reunite you with your pet if they go missing, and overall, helps to keep your pet and fellow community members safe,” Mr Unsworth said.
Pet registrations are available for one year, three years or a lifetime period (except dangerous dogs which may only be registered one year at a time).
All dogs over the age of three months need to be registered and microchipped.
All cats over the age of six months are required to be registered, sterilised, and microchipped.
There are large fines for any owner who does not register their pet.
