The parents of 17-year-old Laeticia Brouwer who was killed by a great white shark off Esperance on Easter Monday have spoken about the tragedy and how the Singleton family is coping with their heartache.
Leon and Julie Brouwer have spoken publicly for the first time since the devastating loss of their daughter in April and visited the beach where she was attacked.
Laeticia was killed while surfing with her father at Kelp Beds about 200m offshore.
Her mother and two sisters were on the beach.
Mr Brouwer told Seven News it's been an extremely hard six months.
“It’s still pretty raw.
“But we certainly find a lot of courage and support from our family, friends and our church and our faith.”
The Brouwers have now launched a scholarship in memory of their daughter in a bid to boost safety and awareness in the water.
