Around 170 people could be out of work after the state government slashes the budget.
Teachers will be dealt the short end of the stick and lose their jobs to budget repairs.
The State Government today announced $64 million would be cut from education by 2019.
Job losses are only one side of the announcement, with education institutions and programs suffering closure too.
Tuart and Canning Colleges will close, as will Moora and Northam Residential Colleges.
School of the Air and six school campsite including Pemberton and Bridgetown will also suffer the same fate.
In addition to the closures there will be a 25% reduction in funding to programs for gifted and talented students.
One hundred and seventy people are expected to loose their jobs, 70 of whom will be teachers.
Member for the south west region Colin Tincknell said these cuts will not achieve budget repair.
"“The Premier and Treasurer need to start taking responsibility for their own budget spending and stop trying to blame everyone else for their poor planning and unfunded election promises," he said.
“This Government doesn’t have a revenue problem, it has a spending problem.”
Teacher unions aren't happy with the decision either.
Community and Public Sector Unions Branch Secretary Toni Walkington said the matter needs to stop be treating the decision like numbers and remember these are people loosing their jobs.
