A Halls Head resident will reappear in court next month after she bit a Mandurah cop on Friday night.
Police said the 18-year-old sunk her teeth into a female Constable while she was being taken to the Mandurah Police Station.
Around 11pm on Friday the woman, from Halls Head, was being taken to the charge room at the station after she was allegedly fighting in the Smart Street Mall.
It was here the woman bit the officer, drawing blood and leaving bite marks.
Western Australian Police Union President George Tilbury labelled the incident as disgraceful.
"This assault is absolutely disgusting, deplorable and completely out of line," he said.
"Police officers give their all for the community and do not deserve to be assaulted while they are doing their job. The full force of the law must come down on this offender, as the community and our Members will accept nothing less."
The teenager was charged with assaulting an officer, disorderly conduct in a police lock-up and obstruction in a police lock-up.
She fronted Perth Magistrates Court last Saturday and will be remanded to reappear in the Mandurah Magistrates Court next month.
The Constable was taken to Peel Health Campus for treatment and is now waiting for results of a mandatory blood test.
