The Member for Mandurah and Police Minister will host an event in Mandurah next week.

This week residents in the Peel Region saw a change in the police structure which abolished the south metro district, replacing it with eight smaller units including one in Mandurah.

Police and Road Safety Minister Michelle Roberts has accepted an invitation from local MP David Templeman to attend a Community Safety Forum in Mandurah on Monday July 9 to explain how the new system will operate, and hear concerns of the community,

Mr Templeman is urging residents of Mandurah to attend the free event at 6:30pm at Meadow Springs Sporting Facility to hear from the Minister and talk about community safety and the new Mandurah policing model.

Local senior police officers will also be available to answer questions.

“Community safety is always an issue whether it be concern about break-ins, hooning drivers and feeling safe about taking a walk in our local streets and parks,” Mr Templeman said.

“This is your chance to make sure our police are aware of any particular local issues, so I urge anyone with an interest in community safety to come along, listen and have a say.

“I am pleased that the Minister for Police and Road Safety, Michelle Roberts has accepted my invitation to come to Mandurah and hear directly from our community.

“This will also be a great opportunity to talk about recent changes to our metropolitan police districts and what they mean for our local suburbs. It’s also a great place to meet the officers in charge of policing in our local districts.

“If we speak out loudly about local concerns, it helps police better respond to local needs."

Residents are encouraged to RSVP to Mr Templeman's office if they wish to attend the event.
