We're seeing a pattern in the top ten names.
Every year some parents eagerly wait to see if their child's name has made it somewhere of significance on the list, and parents-to-be look to weigh up their options.
The "2017 Baby Names Report" by McCrindle has just been released and the results are in.
Here's the top ten list, with one in ten of the 300,000 babies born in Australia this year being given one of these names.
There were 2,145 Olivers and 1,817 Charlottes born last year.
Charlotte holds the number one spot for a second year in a row, bypassing Olivia which was number on in 2014.
Oliver returned to the top spot for a third year in a row, it was the most popular name in all the states except for here in WA, we thought Jack was pretty good.

There appears to be a swing towards more traditional names, but quirky spelling was also reported to be currently trending.
Double letters, hyphens or emphasised phonetic spellings all make the list, with names like Jackson/Jaxon/Jaxson and Lily/Lilly spotted in the top 100.
