Police have taken three people in custody after a high speed chase
Police have taken three people into custody after a high speed chase though Perth's southern suburbs.
Around 1am this morning, police sighted a dark coloured sedan driving in an easterly direction towards them along Bertram Drive, Wellard. It is alleged the vehicle was travelling at high speed and accelerated away as it passed the police vehicle. Officers conducted a U-turn and activated lights and sirens and attempted to stop the vehicle.
It is further alleged the driver failed to stop and continued towards the Kwinana Freeway. The Nissan Pulsar continued through various suburbs before travelling over a stinger (tyre deflation device) that was deployed at the intersection of St. Albans Road in Baldivis. The vehicle kept travelling south with the right hand front and rear tyres shredding.
The Nissan Pulsar was involved in a minor collision with a police vehicle at the intersection of Grange Road and Matataitai Loop in Cooloongup.
The three occupants of the vehicle were taken into custody. No charges have been laid at this time but it is likely the driver will be facing charges relating to traffic offences.
