Upgrades are underway on the Kwinana Loop Trail with the project set to improve connectivity and accessibility across the popular bushland trail network.
Stage one of the $3.5 million plan will deliver upgrades to 21 kilometres of shared-use trail surrounding the Kwinana townsite, including three kilometres of trail realignments and more than 17 kilometres of resurfacing.
Entry gates, fencing and directional and interpretive signage will also be upgraded.
"The Kwinana Loop Trail is one of our community's hidden gems and these upgrades will make it even more enjoyable for locals and visitors alike," Premier and Kwinana MLA Roger Cook said.
"The trail winds through beautiful bushland and offers some of the best views in our area, while also telling the story of Kwinana's Aboriginal history.
"This investment will improve the trail surface, signage and facilities, making it easier for more people to get out and enjoy the outdoors in Kwinana."
Currently, the trail surface varies between crushed limestone, concrete, sand and asphalt, with the resurfacing works to improve the consistency and accessibility of the trail, making it more appealing to a broader range of users.
