Detectives have charged a Nollamara man after he forced a woman out of her car and took off with it in Belmont overnight.
Police said between 6.30pm and 6.50pm last night a woman pulled into the car park of the Belmont Racecourse to take a call on her mobile phone.
A man then approached her white Range Rover, It will be alleged he then opened the driver's door and puller the victim out of the vehicle before driving away with it.
Around 11.00pm the Range Rover was spotted by Police in Osborne Park, they attempted to stop it on Main Street but the driver accelerated away.
A pursuit then followed where several police units were deployed including the Police Air Wing.
The stolen car was driven through several suburbs when the thief threw various items in the car at Police chasing him.
The vehicle was monitored from the air until it came to a stop on Hepburn Avenue in Madeley after running out of fuel.
Four people exited the vehicle.
The driver was arrested after a brief foot chase into a nearby sporting club.
The three passengers were arrested shortly after.
One of the passengers received a broken ankle when she was run over by the vehicle she was trying to exit.
A 22 year-old-man from Nollamara has been charged with Robbery, Steal Motor Vehicle and Drive Recklessly, Fail to Stop, and Reckless Driving.
He has also been charged with several other offences unrelated to this incident, including Aggravated Home Burglary, Steal Motor Vehicle, and two counts of Stealing.
He was refused bail and is due to appear in the Joondalup Magistrates Court today.
