Works on several road rehabilitation projects in the City of Rockingham are set to begin next month.
A total of 71 projects will be carried out across the community over the next five months at a cost of $3.9 million.
This includes the resurfacing of 16.2km of local roads, replacing broken kerbing and upgrading stormwater drainage lids.
Key projects, partly funded by Main Roads, include Sixty Eight Road between Mandurah Road and Eighty Road in Baldivis ($641,842), Safety Bay Road between Arcadia Drive and June Road in Safety Bay ($556,119) and Malibu Road between Trade Winds Drive and Waikiki Road in Safety Bay ($252,510).
Mayor Deb Hamblin said these works were an important part of managing the City’s extensive road network, which is now more than 1130 km long.
“The City’s annual Road Rehabilitation and Renewal Program helps to maintain local roads to a safe standard for road users, as well as extending their lifetime and reducing the potential for costly repairs,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“In the lead up to projects starting, community members in areas that will be affected will be notified by the City through letter drops and the use of variable message boards.“
