The City of Rockingham has secured $1 million in funding from the State Government’s Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF), to assist in the Stan Twight Reserve Clubroom Redevelopment project.
The CSRFF grant funding will contribute towards the development of a pavilion and floodlighting at Stan Twight Reserve.
The wider Stan Twight Reserve project will include the construction of a new club room and change rooms.
Gender equitable change rooms and umpires change rooms will be part of the design along with a larger formal car park.
Additional work will also include the relocation of two turf cricket wickets, establishing a floodlit main AFL oval, creating space for two senior size AFL and cricket fields, as well as an additional synthetic wicket for junior and women’s cricket competitions.
Mayor Deb Hamblin said securing the grant demonstrated the City was committed to planning for future generations and delivering quality leadership and business expertise – two key aspirations in the City’s Strategic Community Plan.
“The Stan Twight Reserve Clubroom Redevelopment and associated works to the ovals will ensure people in Rockingham, Safety Bay, Shoalwater and surrounding areas have access to a contemporary sporting facility for generations to come,” Mayor Hamblin said.
“In late 2022 Council approved the final concept plan for the project, and detailed design is now underway. These upgrades will ensure that a diverse range of sports, and community members, can enjoy sporting and recreation opportunities.
“The City gratefully acknowledges the State Government’s support for this major community infrastructure project.”
Stan Twight Reserve is home to the Safety Bay Stingers Football Club, Shoalwater Bay Cricket Cub, and Rockingham Districts Masters Football Club.
