Five students have been suspended from Baldivis Secondary College after shocking footage emerged of a relief teacher being taunted in a classroom.

The video  — captioned, “reality of being a relief teacher at BSC” —  was uploaded to TikTok over the weekend and showed students standing on desks, blowing vape smoke in the teacher's face, touching her hair and laughing at her.

Education Minister Sabine Winton has confirmed to The West Australian that the students involved, including the person that filmed it, have been suspended.

Their parents have also been called in for a meeting with the principal on Monday.

“The footage makes for distressing viewing — I’m appalled by the behaviour displayed,” she told The West Australian.

“Teachers deserve respect and have a right to feel safe in their classrooms.

“The principal has phoned the students’ parents, inviting them to attend a meeting at the school tomorrow (Monday), and it is my strong expectation that they all attend."

The relief teacher has been provided support.
