Ticket sales for Mandurah's first ever Winter Wonderland event have exceeded expectations with almost 12,000 sold.
Some statistics are in for the August festival held on the eastern foreshore to help boost business during the closure of Mandurah Terrace.
An authentic outdoor ice-skating rink was set up for 23 days with the winter-themed event also including food and drinks from local businesses sold at small pop-up shops and a cabin bar.
Peel Chamber of Commerce Acting Manager Andew McKerrell said some of the statistics he's been given so far show over 11,700 tickets were sold with 70% of participants stating that the ice-rink was one of the primary reasons for them to visit the town centre between August 4 and 27.
"Whilst 80% of people who participated in a survey said they visited at least one businesses and spent $50 or more in one of those shops.
"The general feedback I've received is quite positive from both business and the general public."
Mr McKerrell said he was told in July that the Winter Wonderland event would need to produce 8,000 ticket sales.
