The new Port Kennedy skate park was opened on Saturday by City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels.
The community gathered to celebrate the completion of the park, which saw a skate jam, sausage sizzle and scooter clinic.
The park has been designed to include bowl, plaza and street skate elements, as well as a basketball court.
Mayor Barry Sammels said the park was designed to cater for various skill levels.
“During consultation with the community the City carefully considered the thoughts of those who were most likely to use the new facility," Mayor Sammels said.
"We received feedback from skate groups, local schools and residents before the final designs were crafted.
“The culmination of this is an outstanding family friendly recreation space that will become a great venue for skate competitions, clinics and other events.”
An audit in 2015 saw the need for the original skate park to be replaced, with the City receiving a $20,000 grant from the Stronger Communities Program by the Australian Government to build the new park.
It is located at Veterans Memorial Park in Port Kennedy.
