Statewide shark advice issued due to system outage

UPDATE: The Shark Monitoring Network is back online.

---------------------------------

A statewide shark advice has been issued for beachgoers due to a system outage in the Shark Monitoring Network.

Officers from the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development are working to restore the system, which controls 30 tagged shark detection receivers in WA.

Public shark sighting reports from the Surf Life Saving WA helicopter patrols are not affected and will be published as normal through the Shark Notification System.

People should adhere to any beach closures and keep informed of the latest shark sighting information by checking the SharkSmart website or Surf Life Saving WA’s Twitter feed.

If you see a shark, report it to Water Police on 9442 8600.
