PIC: File

A spate of reports of people stealing from motor vehicles has prompted a warning from Mandurah Police to lock up vehicles.

An investigation is currently underway into multiple reports of people stealing from motor vehicles in the area and surrounding suburbs overnight, particularly from carparks.

Acting senior sergeant Richie Conkling said police had received more than 40 reports over the past week.

"Police will be stepping up patrols in these vulnerable areas but we encourage residents to lock their vehicles and place valuable items out of site." he said.

"If you have CCTV consider checking your footage from overnight for people acting suspiciously in your street."
