A 17-year-old boy has been sentenced to a six-month supervision order over an armed robbery in Golden Bay.

The Sound Telegraph reports, the teenager, who cannot be named, fronted the Rockingham Children's Court last week over the July 2 incident.

The court heard the boy drove his two co-offenders to Golden Bay around 9pm.

A short time later they spotted the victim at random walking alone.

The three boys, who were dressed in all black and wearing balaclavas, got out of the car and ran at the 21-year-old victim.

The two co-accused were armed with a knife and an axe and demanded the victim hand over his belongings.

The court heard the man refused before he was repeatedly pushed to the ground causing his wallet and phone to fall out of his pocket.

The trio fled with the man's wallet but the victim managed to take a photo of the vehicle resulting the in 17-year-old's arrest a short time later.

His two co-accused are yet to be identified.

The boy's lawyer told the court her client admitted to driving the car but had told his co-accused to get back in before the situation escalated.

She said he was "extremely remorseful for his actions".
