Police have charged a Waroona man following inquiries into a carjacking last month when a Mandurah councillor was forced to drive around before being dumped in Silver Sands.
A 31 year-old man is due to appear in court today charged with aggravated robbery, deprivation of liberty and one count of stealing a motor vehicle.
The man has been charged as a result of inquiries by Mandurah detectives into the August 28 incident when a Mandurah councillor was allegedly forced to drive two men around while they stole from her.
The ordeal started just after 6:30pm on Mandurah Terrace where she just left work at the City of Mandurah offices and got into her car.
Two men allegedly threatened to injure her if she didn’t drive them.
Police said whilst being driven, the men rummaged through the victims belongings and made her stop at an address on Ormsby Terrace, forcing her out of the car and taking off with her vehicle.
The vehicle was located the next day and two men were arrested.
A 38-year-old was charged with deprivation of liberty, stealing a motor vehicle, aggravated robbery and possess of prohibited weapon.
The second man, a 39-year-old was not charged in relation to the car-jacking but had a return to prison warrant.
