Detectives are investigating an incident in Hillman where a 49-year-old woman was bashed.
The woman was walking along a footpath on Ennis Avenue near the intersection of Carvie Street around 6.30pm on Thursday when she was approached by a man who blocked her path.
Without warning the man punched the woman several times to her face and body.
She then managed to run to the intersection of the roads where a member of the public helped her.
The offender is described as fair skinned, tall and was wearing dark clothing.
