Be a Coastal Waste Warrior and join in for the next beach clean-up at Avalon Beach, Wannanup on Saturday 24th August 9am-11am - meeting point is at Westview Parade Carpark.

This will be the first time at this location. There's been many requests from the local community to do a beach clean-up in this area. As always we hope that there'll be minimal litter & marine debris and through the process we will continue to educate and spread the awareness about the importance of community spirit in looking after our environment and marine life.

Plastic pollution is the biggest threat to our oceans with 100,000 marine animals and 1 million sea birds dying every year from entanglement, ingestion & suffocation from marine debris. Join us to help prevent discarded rubbish & plastics from entering our ocean.

This is a community event all are welcome to attend - individuals, families with children, students and community groups! Please be SunSmart, bring your filled reusable water bottle 💦 and BYO gloves if possible. Upon sign in you will receive a free raffle entry for our giveaway prizes at the conclusion of the clean up. We are ever so grateful for some of our local eco businesses who continue support our clean ups by donating prizes to give a little back to our volunteers and help us to spread the plastic alternatives message 🌏

Following the clean up our volunteers are invited to plant a tree (one per family) in memory of our loved ones at Avalon Beach as an eco friendly alternative to balloon releases. Coastal Waste Warriors are a community group supported by the City of Mandurah. Data collected from their cleanups is input into the Tangaroa Blue Australian Marine Debris Database to assist them in source reduction initiatives.
