This exhibition explores the significance of Ma, the 'in-between spaces' in both material and narrative senses, as expressed through contemporary fibre art.

The Japanese concept of Ma, often described as a pause in time, a gap, interval, or emptiness in space, can be seen as integral to the whole. These apparent absences hold essence, meaning, and impact, such as the spaces between individual words on a page, the intervals between musical notes, and the gaps between stitches on a cloth.

This exhibition seeks to explore the significance of these ‘in-between spaces’ in both material and narrative senses, through the works of a group of artists situated in various cultural landscapes, expressed through contemporary fibre art.

Features artworks by Kate Campbell Pope, Helen Coleman, Denise Fisher, Alana Grant, Philomena Hali, Marie Mitchell, Jan Mullen, Annette Nykiel, Deidre Robb, Tania Spencer, Chelsea Turner, Susie Vickery, Jo Wassell, Louise Wells, Martien van Zuilen.

Exhibition opening: Friday 2 February, 6pm
Artist Talks: Sunday, 4 February, 2pm and Sunday, 17 March, 2pm
