A 40-year-old man will appear before the Rockingham Magistrates Court today (21 December 2018), charged with child exploitation offences.
As a result of an ongoing inquiry into possession of child exploitation material, police executed a search warrant on a residence in the Mandurah District on 22 November 2018.
During the search it is alleged police located and seized child exploitation material; drug items; ammunition; a bulletproof vest; prohibited weapons; and various electronic storage devices.
It is also alleged an iPad seized during the search warrant was owned by the man and contained over 20,000 child exploitation images. He was charged with Possession of Child Exploitation Material; Possession of Bulletproof Clothing; Possess Unlicensed Firearm/Ammunition; Carry or Possess Prohibited Weapon; and Failing to Comply with Reporting Obligations.
Analysis of the devices seized on 22 November 2018, located further Child Exploitation Material images and the man was subsequently charged on 14 December 2018 with:
· 20 counts of Distributing Child Exploitation Material;
· 15 counts of Fail to Comply with Reporting Obligations; and
· One count of Possess Child Exploitation Material.
