Alcoa employees are making a big difference in the community thanks to the Alcoans Coming Together in Our Neighbourhoods Program.
Alcoa's ACTION Program supports employee volunteering activities in communities close to the company's Western Australian operations.
In 2018 48 activities will be highlighted, with most occurring in the Peel Region, Kwinana and South West areas. Alcoa's bauxite mining and alumina refineries are located in these areas.
Nearly 400 Alcoa employees will be involved, volunteering for at least 1500 hours. In recognition of its employees’ volunteering efforts, Alcoa will donate a total of $144,000 to associated community organisations.
The volunteering activities include busy bees at schools, sporting clubs and local charities and assisting with community events and fundraising for not-for-profit services.
Alcoa of Australia Chairman and Managing Director Michael Parker thanked the employees involved in the volunteering activities saying it was proof that together we could make a big difference.
“Alcoa is proud to be an engaged and supportive partner in our neighbouring communities and we encourage and support our employees to also be active community members,” he said.
Alcoa contributes around $3.6 million to address local challenges and opportunities per year.
Alcoa employees also support the community through the Personnel Employed at Alcoa Charity Help Program.
