A Byford man who dreamt of winning Monday Lotto has turned that dream into reality after taking home Monday’s $1 million Lotto prize.
The man, in his early 30s, said he’d had the dream only a few weeks ago and had been buying a Monday Lotto ticket ever since.
“I’ve only been playing Lotto on and off for a year and I never win anything on Monday, but I had a dream and yeah . . . I’ve persisted with buying Monday Lotto since that dream," he said.
He said the first thing he would do with his winnings was buy a house and then get married.
“My fiancée and I were going to have a backyard wedding or just go to the registry office as we couldn’t afford to have it at a nice venue, but now we’ll splash out on one,” he said.
“We’ll celebrate tonight with an Italian meal and we’ve promised the kids a chocolate milkshake.”
Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said many winners had often said they had had a feeling that they would win.
“Firstly, you have to buy a ticket - because you have to be in it to win it, and secondly, it doesn’t hurt to have that niggling feeling of hope because you just never know,” she said.
“We’ve got a $60 million week ahead giving more Western Australians the chance to turn their dreams into a reality with Powerball’s $40 million jackpot, followed by Saturday’s $20 million Superdraw.”
Tickets for Powerball and Superdraw are available until 6pm draw day from Lotterywest in-store, online or via the app.
