Cold Case detectives will be stationed at a mobile police facility in Collie today as part of their ongoing investigation into the disappearance of 12-year-old schoolgirl Lisa Mott over 40 years ago.
On October 30, 1980, Lisa had gone to Collie's local basketball courts on Throssell Street with a friend and, about 8.45pm, she went to a nearby pizza shop.
The schoolgirl then started walking home about 9pm and was last seen crossing a railway line to Forrest Street when she vanished.
Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Dowding, from the Cold Case Investigation Squad, said police never gave up on unsolved matters which continued to impact upon family members and loved ones.
“It’s every parent’s worst nightmare – losing a bright young child without any explanation,” Det-Sen. Sgt Dowding said.
“We want to find that explanation and we believe that’s possible with the help of the community. Any small piece of information may be all we need to progress this investigation and find the answers for Lisa’s family.”
Lisa was described as having a fair complexion, 152cms tall, thin build, light brown hard and hazel eyes.
She was last seen wearing a light blue t-shirt, dark blue towelling shorts with a white trim around the legs and a pair of brown and fawn striped sneakers with white socks.
