The first design images of the new $28.1 million homeless facility in Mandurah have been released.
The 50-apartment Common Ground facility, to be built on Allnutt Street, will provide stable accommodation and a safe environment for rough sleepers in the Peel region.
Architects have been working with key stakeholders in the development, including those who have experienced homelessness.
Following a feedback period from industry, a Request for Tender is expected to be advertised to select a suitable construction contractor who will work alongside the project team to develop the final building design and manage construction.
Construction is due to begin next year.
"The Common Ground facilities are a key pillar of our long-term response to addressing homelessness in Western Australia, and it's fantastic to be able to unveil the first concept design for the Mandurah facility," Homelessness Minister John Carey said.
"Mandurah Common Ground will include around 50 new units which will provide both accommodation and intensive wraparound supports for some of the most vulnerable people in our community.
"The Common Ground model delivers on our commitment to the Housing First approach which is about providing both housing and critical supports, so people can build independence and break the cycle of homelessness."
