A man has been charged after allegedly crashing his girlfriend's car into a paint marking machine in Mandurah.
The 38-year-old allegedly had an argument with his partner on Monday night before driving away in the vehicle, a Subaru Forrester.
The man did not have permission to take the vehicle.
The Subaru was travelling on Pinjarra Road towards Anstruther Road when the driver allegedly crashed into a paint marking machine that was in the middle of closed lanes.
The car was extensively damaged.
Police further allege the man left the vehicle and walked away but was detained by members of the public before officers arrived.
The Furnissdale man has been charged with stealing a motor vehicle and criminal damage.
He is due to appear before the Mandurah Magistrates Court in May.
