Mandurah businesses are set to benefit from next months Australasian Police and Emergency Services Games with thousands of people set to flock to the region.
Over 3000 participants along with their family and friends will be staying in Mandurah, enjoying local food and beverages, and taking advantage of the local sights.
Mayor Rhys Williams said the APES Games will boost tourist numbers in the region, benefiting local businesses.
“This is one reason why the City of Mandurah is so proactive about attracting new events and developing our own,” Mayor Williams said.
“We want to support local business because it means local jobs for our young people,” he said.
Cape Bouvard Brewing Company has won the rights to the licenced bar area at the participant social hub.
“We have even brewed a special beer for the event,” Cape Bouvard Brewing Company Chief Beer Officer Peter McAppion said.
“Bringing these events to Mandurah is great for local business and we will be hiring 20 local young people to work the event,” he said.
Another business that has scored some of the APES business is local audio visual gurus PSI Audio.
They were the team that installed the countdown clock on the Eastern Foreshore.
“Events are a big part of our business and we have worked on a number of Mandurah events including the Christmas Pageant, New Year’s Eve, and the Children’s Festival,” Ryan Miller from PSI Audio said.
The APES Games run from October 28 to November 3, 2018.
