Mandurah residents are being reassured their bins will be collected as soon as possible after garbage truck drivers went on strike overnight.
Nine local government areas are affected by the 24-hour standoff, with union workers from waste management company Cleanaway fighting for better pay and conditions.
Transport Workers Union WA branch secretary Tim Dawson told 7News, they have been left with no other choice but to walk off the job.
"We call on Cleanaway to do the right thing by their workers...how about they show some loyalty to the workers that have shown loyalty to them," he said.
"At the last resort we've decided to take some industrial action."
The City of Mandurah have informed residents their bins may not be collected today.
"Please put your bins out for collection as you normally would & leave them out until they're emptied. If your collection is delayed, Cleanaway will collect your bin as soon as possible (including Saturday if needed)," the email to residents read.
