Mandurah will host an AFL pre-season clash next year for the first time since 2020.
The AAMI Community Series match between Fremantle and Melbourne will take place at Lane Group Stadium on Sunday, March 2 at 3.10pm.
It will be the last game for both teams before the 2025 Toyota AFL Premiership season.
Peel Thunder Football Club CEO Paul Lekias said it was another opportunity to showcase the venue and have the AFL back in Mandurah.
“It is fantastic to see the AFL support regional venues with the AAMI Community Series and we thank them for their support of Mandurah in bringing Fremantle vs Melbourne here leading into the 2025 AFL season," he said.
“We will work closely with the AFL and the City of Mandurah to deliver this match to the community, and we look forward to demonstrating to the AFL the capability of Rushton Park as a major events venue."
Mandurah Mayor Rhys Williams said he hopes the game will attract elite level sport to the City.
“This match will not only be attended by many fans from far and wide, but televised to a national audience, which is a great chance to promote Mandurah and our region on a wider scale,” he said.
“It’s a great opportunity to be working with our local club to help support the game and develop a program of events that the community can enjoy as part of the pre-season series.
“We look forward to welcoming the Fremantle and Melbourne AFL teams to our beautiful city.”
Tickets for the AAMI Community Series will go on sale in February.
