Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Calista last night.
Around 9.15pm on Wednesday, police on patrol in the Calista area attempted to stop a motorcycle driving on Wellard Road.
The rider, believed to be aged in his 20's, failed to stop and turned off on Westbrook Street before turning back onto Wellard Road with police in pursuit.
Officers then lost sight of the rider for a short time before finding the motorcycle crashed on Wellard Road.
Police provided emergency first aid to the male rider until St John WA arrived at the scene.
Tragically, the rider died at the scene.
Officers from the Major Crash Investigation Section are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash, with oversight from the Internal Affairs Unit due to the earlier attempt to stop the motorcycle.
