The City of Rockingham are set to share in $27 million through the State Government Black Spot Program to fix their problem roads.
Safety upgrades and improvements are planned for 92 locations with 44 in the Perth metropolitan area and 48 in regional WA.
Works will improve safety, help reduce congestion and improve efficiency whilst also supporting local jobs.
Upgrades in the City of Rockingham include:
- $90,000 will go towards upgrading lighting along Royal Palm Drive/Coronata Dirve to Ennis Avenue
- $664,667 will be used on Mundijong Road to realign the curve, install barriers and install street lights
- $163,333 to be used to install a roundabout at the intersection of Parkin Street and Bay View Street
- $300,980 will be used to seal the shoulders in sections of Mandurah Road
- $75,000 will go towards improving the intersection of Enis Ave and Dixon Road.
Transport Minister Rita Saffioti said this funding will upgrade 92 locations across the State, helping to make our roads safer and more efficient while also supporting local jobs.
"The Black Spot Program is an important part of our program of works, ensuring the most hazardous roads are targeted for improvement each year," she said.
"Since the program's inception in 2000 almost half a billion dollars has been allocated to upgrade and improve safety on our roads."
More than $21 million has been allocated by the State Government, with an additional $5 million to be provided by local governments.
