Dog owners and their four-legged friends are invited to the official opening and naming of the Shire of Serpentine Jarrahdale’s new dedicated dog park in Byford.
The official opening and naming of Byford Bark Park will be held in conjunction with the Shire’s annual Paws in the Park event this evening from 5pm – 7pm.
Shire President Michelle Rich said the Paws in the Park event promised to be a great afternoon.
“Since the new dog park was opened to the public last November, it has been extremely popular and well utilised by our local community,” Cr Rich said.
“The Paws in the Park event is a great opportunity for us to celebrate this new public open space and thank our community who have played an important role in prioritising and designing this park.”
The $468,000 park was funded entirely by developer contributions and features two fenced off sections, one for small dogs and one for large dogs, with shade, seating and agility equipment.
The Paws in the Park event will feature pet behaviour advice, a free sausage sizzle and the first 100 people through the gate will receive a doggie goodie bag.
Residents are encouraged to walk to the event as parking is limited.
