A 40-year-old Orelia man has been charged after allegedly leading police on a pursuit through Perth overnight.
The man was driving a Mitsubishi Lancer along Charles Street around 8pm on Friday.
Police tried to stop his car as it approached the intersection of Newcastle Street, but he allegedly sped off through a red light before crashing into a taxi.
The taxi then collided with a stationary vehicle.
The driver allegedly ran from his car into bushes but he was arrested shortly after on Russell Square.
Police allege the man was in possession of a knife and a search of his vehicle revealed further knives, an axe, a catapult and quantities of methamphetamine and cannabis.
The driver of the taxi was taken to Royal Perth Hospital with minor injuries.
The Orelia man will appear before the Perth Magistrates Court today on a string of driving, drug and weapons charges.
