Locals will soon be able play at the Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club all year round with a new shade canopy to be installed.
Strongly supported by Murray Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke, the club will receive $401,012 towards the project as part of the State Government's Community Sporting and Recreation Facilities Fund (CSRFF).
A further $500,000 has also been generously donated by patron Graham Riley with the total cost of the project being $1,203,036.
“I am delighted to announce that the Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club has been successful in their application for funding through the CSRFF for the construction of a shade canopy," Sport and Recreation Minister David Templeman said.
“I would like to thank Murray Wellington MLA Robyn Clarke for her strong advocacy for this project. Her hard work and dedication to her community is to be commended.”
Ms Clarke said it is fantastic news for the members of Pinjarra Bowling and Recreation Club, who have been asking for a shade canopy for a number of years now.
“The canopy over “A” Green will give them respite from the sun and allow them to play year round, at all hours of the day.”
