A father-of-two has died in hospital after a freak accident on the Bussell Highway.
Anthony Exeter's wife, Kelly, posted to Facebook overnight confirming her husband's death.
"As most of you know, on Friday we were involved in an accident. As a result of that accident, Anthony suffered catastrophic brain damage which could not be recovered from," her post read.
"Last night I got the chance to sleep hand in hand with my soul mate. Tonight he passed away peacefully shortly after breathing tubes were removed.
"To say we are devastated is an understatement. For Jaden, Mia and me, he was the emotional axis our world rotated on."
Mr Exeter was driving near Ludlow with his wife and two children on Friday afternoon when a canopy from a boat being towed in front of him detached, slamming into the windscreen of his car.
The 41-year-old received serious injuries and was flown to Royal Perth Hospital.
His children and wife were not injured.
Rockingham Flames president Warren Boucaut said Mr Exeter was an "outstanding young man" and was a member of the inaugural Rockingham Flames State Basketball League team.
He played more than 300 games for the Flames and Perth Redbacks.
"The Rockingham Flames Family join with the entire basketball community in sending their heartfelt sympathy to his family and friends," a Facebook statement read.
Kelly Exeter has requested instead of flowers or the like, that donations be made to https://rafikimwema.com/.
"It is a charity that looks after children who are not privileged to experience the love, care and safety Ant provided our children with," Mr Exeter said.
