Residents in the Shire of Murray can now get rid of their rubbish for free at the Ravenswood and Dwellingup transfer stations.
The amended service replaces the current tip pass system as part of a push to decrease illegal dumping and assist locals to reduce clutter at their properties.
Access to the Transfer Stations located in Corio Road, Ravenswood and Holyoake Road, Dwellingup, will be monitored by property identification passes which for eligible ratepayers, were attached to their rates notices.
Residents renting a property in the Shire of Murray will be able to collect an identification pass from the Shire’s Administration Office from September, while residents owning or renting properties that do not receive a weekly waste service will be able to purchase a pass.
Proof of residence is required in both instances.
Transfer Station entry is restricted to household quantities only.
Fees will apply for excess quantities and when identification passes are not presented.
The Shire’s Hard and Green Waste Verge Collections will continue as usual with the 2017/18 Hard Waste Collection taking place end January to early February and the first Green Waste Verge Collection of the financial year, taking place in October.
Residents who have a 240L recycle bin also have the option to upgrade their bin to a 360L recycle bin, for a one-off fee of $40 and no additional ongoing cost. An application form is available for download from the Shire’s website.
