Stories of local seniors told in new video series

The City of Rockingham has shared cherished memories of seniors from across the region as a special video series in conjunction with International Day of Older People.

The Seniors Oral Stories draws on the connections of five local seniors to people, places and communities.

Participants of the series include Cal Swann, Pamela Rudling, Anita Black, Lorraine Smith and Klaus Michler, with each of the videos launched on the City's website and their YouTube page.

City of Rockingham Mayor Barry Sammels said the series highlighted the incredible contribution seniors have made to the community.

“Each video uncovers individual life experiences and highlights the incredible value seniors have in creating connections across the community,” Mayor Sammels said.

“Research indicates that story-telling increases resilience and happiness for both those telling the story and those listening to it.

“Every senior’s story is unique and I encourage residents of all ages and backgrounds to experience each person’s story by watching the new video series.”
