A new mural has been created in Silver Sands as part of the Mandurah Arts Festival.
The ablution block at Henson Reserve has been transformed into a work-of-art with artist Haylee Fields taking inspiration from Mandurah’s coastal and marine life.
The mural is one of two being painted in the City during the Arts Festival and is a part of 10 public art pieces the City of Mandurah is delivering over the next five years.
Four murals have already been created at Falcon Bay, Mandurah Library, and Mandurah Bridge as part of previous arts festivals.
Mayor Caroline Knight said the murals were a welcome addition to Mandurah’s growing art trail and would encourage community connections at popular public spaces.
“We have made a concerted effort to boost Mandurah’s public art scene, because we know art and cultural offerings have a unique way of bringing people together to build vital connections,” Mayor Knight said.
“We are excited to see these new murals brighten our public spaces. I encourage everyone to see the incredible artists at work during the Mandurah Arts Festival and return with family and friends to enjoy the finished masterpieces.”
The second mural will be painted on the exterior walls of CASM’s workshop by artist Jerome Davenport from October 6-11.
Taking inspiration from the people who use the workshop space, the design will reflect the essence of the space, its creative purpose
and the cultural significance of the site.
The Mandurah Arts Festival will be held throughout the city from September 12 to October 12, featuring a huge range of events, performances and experiences to celebrate Mandurah’s vibrant and exciting arts scene.
