Over $10,000 has been raised to help support the family of a young father killed in a crash on Mother's Day in South Yunderup.
Harrison McElroy, 24, and his partner, Kayla Sheppard, 31, had pulled over in the southbound emergency lane of the Forrest Highway just before 6.30pm on Sunday.
For some reason, the pair exited their white MG sedan and a short time later were struck and killed by a Volvo station wagon.
The driver of the Volvo called emergency services and stopped to help but sadly Harrison and Kayla could not be saved.
Speaking to 7NEWS.com.au Harrison's brother Michael said he was a devoted father to his one-year-old daughter.
“My little brother was a kind-hearted bloke. He took each day as it came without a worry,” Michael, told 7NEWS.com.au.
“He was the easiest going, laid-back young man I’ve ever met.
“He lived his life day by day and in the moment.”

It is understood Kayla was also a mother to a young daughter.
Harrison's sister-in-law Chloe Steele has since created a GoFundMe page to help cover his funeral costs.
"Tragically on the 11th of May, a young loving father aged 24 was killed in a freak accident along the Forrest highway," she wrote on the GoFundMe page.
"Harrison pulled over onto the emergency lane left the vehicle and was unfortunately struck by another oncoming travelling along the Forrest highway.
"He leaves behind a 1 and a half year old daughter and a devastated family.
"We don’t often ask for help, but sometimes life puts you in a place where you have no choice but to reach out.
"If you could please spare any thing to contribute towards giving Harrison and his family the send off he deserves it would be so greatly appreciated."
Major Crash investigators are appealing for any witnesses to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report the information online at www.crimestopperswa.com.au.
