Footage of a tourist squaring up to a kangaroo at a Byford wildlife park has gone viral.
The video, posted to TikTok on Sunday, has been viewed over 17 million times.
It shows a man trying to fend off the kangaroo as it swiped at him several times at the Cohunu Koala Park.
The confrontation began when the kangaroo, named Buckley, became feisty with a woman, scratching at her shoes and grabbing her.
The American tourist then intervened which saw him in the firing line.
The ordeal ended when a staff member got involved.
Cohunu Koala Park owner Lucille Sorbello said Buckely had recently arrived from the east coast and was hand-raised.
She said it was important visitors remained calm around wildlife.
"With animals, you approach them quietly and nicely, not pushing them around and grabbing them," she told 7NEWS.
No serious injuries were reported.
