Two people were rescued off the coast of Port Kennedy / Warnbro overnight after two children were found by a member of the public at a boat ramp in Port Kennedy.
About 11:00pm a member of the public located two children, believed to be aged 11 and 5, at the Port Kennedy Boat Ramp, off Port Kennedy Drive. The children advised the man that their parents had gone out on a jet ski about 8:00pm and had not returned.
The member of the public alerted WA Police Force to the situation, and Water Police immediately commenced a marine search operation. Resources deployed to the search area included Police Air Wing, Water Police, DFES Marine Rescue Rockingham and several police units from Rockingham, Mandurah and the Regional Operations Group.
The crew on board the police helicopter located the jet ski, which had broken down on the water further north off the coast of Port Kennedy / Warnbro, and the Water Police vessel was directed to its location.
The two people on board the jet ski, a 41-year-old woman and a 37-year-old man, were transferred to the police vessel and the jet ski was towed to shore, where the children were reunited with their parents.
