The next stage of the proposed Western Foreshore development is now underway.
The State Government feedback period is now open, giving residents a chance to have their say on a proposed micro-brewery, mini-golf course, chocolate factory and cafe to be built on the old King Carnival site.
Because a section of the site at Hall Park is an A-class reserve, the City requires the State Government's permission to lease it for commercial use.
"I know the Western Foreshore proposal has prompted a lot of conversation and differing opinions across our community," Mayor Amber Kearns said.
"This project has the potential to bring new life to a small section of the foreshore, with more family-friendly activities and spaces for people to enjoy all year round. I also know that change in such a well-loved area needs to be handled carefully, and it’s really important that our community is part of that process.
"This is your chance to share your views directly through the formal community consultation.
"It’s worth noting that traffic management and liquor licensing will be looked at later, through separate processes, so they’re not part of this current consultation."
The consultation period is open for public comment until December 14.
At the end of the advertising period, submissions will be considered and a summary provided to the Minister for Lands.
The Minister for Lands will then consider the proposal and if approved will table it in both Houses of Parliament.
