Blatant Sales Pitch... At Least 10 Reasons to Advertise on Radio

Why 10? I'm not sure why... it seems a nice round number, I could come up with another 10, or 20, but these are the top 10 in my mind as to why you should advertise on radio:

1) Radio sells with immediacy.
Can there be a better time to reach customers than on their car radio while they are driving to do today’s shopping? When they have just woken up and are thinking about what they are going to do today? When they are on their way home at the end of a busy day and are thinking about what to have for tea?

2) Radio sells everywhere.
Radio is the only true mobile medium. In the car, at work, and at play, radio is there… with our audience.

3) Radio sells with intimacy.
In your personal life, when you have something you want to tell someone, do you to show them a picture, or do you write to them, or, do you talk with the intimacy and emotion of the human voice? It's that one one one intimate conversation that radio has with our listeners that helps to communicate with them.

4) Radio stars in the theatre of the mind.
It's an old saying, but worth its weight in gold. With word pictures and emotion-evoking sounds, radio’s theatre of the mind stimulates the most emotion-filled pictures the mind can comprehend. AND you can do things on radio that you would need a multi-billion dollar budget for in TV!

Want a 100 piece orchestra on the moon playing your theme song, while an elephant surrounded by one thousand chorus girls dance? We can do it on radio.

5) Radio escapes advertising’s clutter.
Today’s newspapers average 2/3 ad copy to 1/3 actual editorial stories. And TV spends roughly 1/3 of its time advertising... But radio, at least  on our stations, we play less than 10 minutes of advertising per hour, sometimes even less than 10 minutes. Radio is the uncluttered medium.

6) Radio is the cost effective medium.
Newspaper rates are up (even when circulation rates are down), TV rates are up (even when streaming is out rating free to air). Meanwhile... radio advertising costs have grown less than any other major forms of advertising.

7) Reach is nice, but frequency sells.
TV and Newspapers are 'Reach Media' they reach varying numbers of people. But psychologists tell us that consumers need to be exposed to an advertising message at least three times before it begins to penetrate. Radio is the reach and frequency medium that is affordable. The more they hear your message, the more likely they are to remember it when they need your product or service.

8) Radio’s targeted advertising sells.
Radio’s variety of formats allows you to pinpoint your advertising on the station or stations that best match your interests. Radio’s unique targeting ability saves you money. From positioning your ad around shows or segments that appeal to your prospective customers, you can target those people now and tomorrow.

9) You’re always on the front page with radio.
With radio advertising you are front page and centre in the listener’s attention span when your ad is on the air, they can't skip it and if they want to hear what is coming up next, they can't fast forward it either! For example, you are never buried on page 24, or surrounded by your competitors ads.

10) Radio is an active medium in an active society.
Radio is an active medium capable of being there first, stirring emotion, creating demand and selling your product or service. Radio is active, not reactive, when something big happens, listeners turn to radio to find out more.
