Special: Mining's Contribution To The Peel Region

A recent industry survey from the W.A. resources sector claims that they contribute more than $1.1 BILLION to the Peel Region either directly or indirectly in the 2019-20, creating over 6,200+ full time jobs.

The data collected from 65 member companies of the Chamber of Minerals and Energy WA covers more than 150 operational sites across the State, representing 70 per cent of the WA resources sector by production.

“The resource sector workforce should be extremely proud of the way our sector has been able to operate both safely and effectively during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said CME Chief Executive Paul Everingham.

65 companies involved in the survey directly employed 6,238 people in the Peel area. These workers were paid more than $872 Million.

These companies then spent an additional $264 million supporting 259 Peel businesses, 23 community organisations, and four out of five local governments in the region.

Their supply chain created "...an additional 984 jobs in the Peel region and generated more than $150 million in indirect gross value add for local economies. About one in seven full-time jobs in the area had some connection to the sector."

So how can your business be a part of this?

You can begin by targeting the workers or other businesses involved with the mining industry in your advertising and marketing.

For example:
"If you are a fly in fly out worker... see us for XYZ product or services"
"If you need XYZ product or service for mine site work... see our local Peel team at..."

And simply by advertising with us, you can reach those workers and businesses who work in these industries.

Remember that those workers will have discretionary spending in their personal budgets, as well as money to spend on the essentials of life. By targeting this type of spend from them, your advertising and marketing will have to reflect that too.

If you are advertising for staff, and radio is perfect to attract the attention of those working away "...work locally for XYZ company", and "...we are hiring locally!"
