A Baldivis man has been charged over a stand-off with police on Heirisson Island.
Police spotted the man allegedly driving a Mitsubishi Triton recklessly in East Perth around 7pm on Thursday.
The 23-year-old driver allegedly failed to stop for police and drove to Heirisson Island.
It's alleged the man claimed he was armed with a gun, sparking a massive police response including TRG officers.
Police managed to negotiate with the man and took him into custody without incident.
A search of the man, his vehicle and nearby bushland failed to find any trace of a firearm.
The 23-year-old Baldivis man has been charged with reckless driving and failing to stop when directed by a police officer.
He will appear in the Perth Magistrates Court today.
