BREAKING: Ben Cousins has been jailed for a year.
Former AFL star Ben Cousins has been sentenced to 12 months in prison.
The 38-year-old was sentenced in the Perth Magistrates Court on Tuesday over 11 charges including aggravated stalking, breaching a violence restraining order and drug and driving offences.
Cousins’ lawyer asked the magistrate to suspend his sentence so he could attend a rehabilitation program funded by the AFL, but the request was denied.
The sentence has been backdated to February 24.
He will be eligible for parole.
